Soul Power Part 10
How do we silence the mind chatter that voices over the soul’s Still, Small Voice? The answer is much easier than we think. Once we’re aware of the mind chatter, we can call it for what it is - a process of our ego. And once we know that our mind chatter is simply part of the mental structure of our ego and not our true selves, we have power over it.
With the power to stop irrational self-talk, we’re more conscious and our most authentic self arises. Our truest self, our soul, includes our divine nature which doesn’t belittle us, shame us, over-admire or inflate us. Instead, it sees us through the eyes of a loving God. In soul, we experience ourselves as good, significant, needed, loved, and lovable. Even in our missing of the mark, we are connected to the all-accepting God who accepts us as we are.
When we stop our ego chatter, it is like awakening from a dream. Depending on their content, dreams may put us in terrible trouble or in a blissful state. But when we awaken, we have a new reality; we are in the actual reality. Likewise, the ego’s chatter is similar to a dream in the sense that it vanishes when we become conscious.
Many of us can take command over the ego for a brief period, then negative and unhealthy thoughts flood back in us. However, when fully embodied, the soul replaces the chatter. Yes, tethered to God, our soul puts us on an entirely new track. The soul is our real home and our real self. The longer we stay in it, the more we can be at home, the more the chatter becomes less than a faint whisper, and the more we can hear the Still, Small Voice.
Spiritual practice: The next time you are overwhelmed with ego chatter, remember that the chatter is a product of your ego and its story. The story is simply a mental structure that has no real spiritual substance. Command the chatter to cease and replace it with stories from your depths.
