Soul Power Part 11
We cling to the idea that our role, station in life, and personality are who we are. But these are only outward representations of a mental structure called our ego and are not who we are. The trouble is that we spend much time in our egos and therefore miss out on who we really are.
So, who are we? We are souls. And to live in the soul, we must know who it is. To see the soul is like mining for gold. We chip away at layers and layers of ego to reach the glistening veins of gold. Once the miners reach gold, they experience its properties. Real gold has a particular shine and weight and can be melted into many beautiful things. In addition, real gold is the most valuable metal. So when we reach the gold of our soul, we get to know its properties and value.
Chipping away at our ego takes energy. But those who rely on the Divine receive extra energies to accomplish the task. God has exceptional compassion for all who mine for their souls. God understands that we rely heavily on our egos, even if it causes suffering. However, God also knows that to find true peace, we must chip away at the very thing we have come to rely on - until we reach the gold.
The chipping away process feels like a slow death. But once we reach the gold, we are face to face with our shining souls. Our souls are the purest of love and the most valuable spiritual gift we could ever have. We slowly come around to realizing that our souls are our true identity, just as it was when we were soul children. Our souls are beautiful. We are beautiful.
Inquiry: Why is it such a slow death?
Dear God,
As we mine for our souls, I pray that you bless and grant us strength and faith. Then, as we die to parts of ourselves, reveal to us the soul you placed in us at our making. Amen.
