Soul Power Part 7

So many people want to know how to distinguish their souls from their egos. This is a pivotal question for those interested in the journey into wholeness. How can we know if our soul is progressing if we do not even know what our soul feels like?

In explaining how we feel in our souls, the analogy of the tennis racket is helpful. On the racket is a "sweet spot” - “that one place on the racket where its strings cause a point between the middle and tip that propels the ball with more power and less vibration to the hands.” When the player hits the ball in the sweet spot, it is placed more accurately.

Tennis coaches teach students to aim for the sweet spot with every return ball. Instructors train students to look at the racket as they move in for a return. The power of gaze connects the player’s arm and wrist to the oncoming ball so that it hits the sweet spot.

The sweet spot of our lives is our soul. There is a sense of precision, accompanied by the right rhythm and speed. In spiritual terms, there is a sense of divine order and harmony between mind, heart, and body. Our beliefs, intentions, and behavior are coherent. Even in failure, the soul is connected to a God of forgiveness, which brings self-forgiveness and regeneration. The concentrated gaze of the tennis player is comparable to presence.

We recognize when we are in our soul because there is balance and meaning. We enjoy the connection to divine order order and its rhythm. From the sweet spot of our soul, we respond to the “balls” life with a sense of love rather than how our ego may benefit.

Self-inquiry: Am I in my sweet spot right now? Why or why not?

Dear God,
Please lead me to the sweet spot of my soul. Amen.
