Wholeness Part 4
To realize our wholeness is to acknowledge our deficits as growing edges, and to genuinely embody our divine selves— all our qualities that make our soul a unique and divine being with a personal purpose. There are many ways we reconnect to our divinity. Many spiritual practices reveal our divine qualities and help us shift toward them.
For me, one of the surest ways to reconnect to this inner spark of the Divine is to become conscious of my soul child. There he is in all his childishness, a fledgling with only a hint of an ego, faced with learning how to live. There is something profoundly spiritual about this child: he lived mostly from the soul, and this was the only time in my life that this occurred. He had not yet fully developed his ego and its strategies, avoidances, or fixations. His passion was not operating and therefore did not rule him.
Whether we remember them or not, we all have a soul child… our divine core. We were born into our original goodness, our wholeness. To go back to living in soul, we find a way to re-embody our innocence, goodness, virtues, and our Holy Idea. This is the way to becoming conscious of our being the Beloved of God.
This reconnection has been ongoing since humanity arrived on Earth. You do not have to know the Enneagram to make the trip back to your divine self. We do not need to understand the ego to know that we feel more whole and free when living from innocent joy and divine purpose. The process of growth and transformation is as old as humanity itself. Exploring the soul child is one pathway back to our soul.
Unless traumatized or abused in some manner, the soul child doesn't know anything about being deficient. This divine entity lives from wholeness, including its deficits. This child moves in the world with genuine intention; it lives in hope and joy. In fact, it lives in all the aspects of what I refer to as “the Enneagram of Soul”—those nine basic aspects of spiritual expression that exist whether or not we know the terms “Holy Ideas” or “Enneagram.”
The soul child lives in harmony with Sacred Power, Sacred Loving Peace, Sacred Alignment with the Divine, Sacred Benevolent Compassion, Sacred Action, Sacred Creativity, Sacred Wisdom, Sacred Kinship, and Sacred Joy.
Besides these divine expressions, there is the soul child’s spontaneity, bubbling excitement, and complete openness and trust. But life slowly “tempers” these. We eventually flip to the ego type. However, in the return to wholeness, the divine expressions are restored and become viable expressions of our true nature…. We feel that we are home again, whole again… a chance to live as we once lived… from soul.
Spiritual practice: How can you find more of the divine expression placed in you at your making?
Self-inquiry: What are some reasons why you may forget your soul child?
Prayer:
Dear God, For the gift of wholeness my Belovedness placed in me at my making, I am truly grateful. Amen
