Personality Part 7
Question: What most helps our personality?
Answer: Anything that makes it bow to our soul.
Question: Why?
Answer: Because in bowing to our soul, we are our best self.
Our souls are not vague “pie in the sky by and by” ideas, but real entities. In listening to our soul, we have direct access to deep wisdom. How do we listen to the soul? We come aside from the noise and haste and sit in stillness. In the quiet, our souls’ wisdom arises and the way forward becomes clear. Our souls give reassurance, our souls are connected to the Divine, our souls know the way out of our traps, our souls know the way to heal a broken relationship, and they carry us through uncertainty. Our souls tell us how to handle a crisis, how to mourn, how to make peace, how to grant mercy… Such abilities are far beyond having a good personality, they are the bones of our being.
Our souls will not force us to listen to them because they refuse to compete with our egos. Our souls are the purest part of ourselves and wait for us to pilgrimage into their presence. They are the source of comfort and answers because they hold our divine selves, which connect us to the divine.
If you’d like to know your soul’s answer for a question, just simply formulate the question right now, then ask it of your soul. Now, in stillness, listen for the answer. When we ask our soul a question and wait in stillness for the answer, we have created sacred space. In sacred space, the Divine meets us and takes us to where the spiritual answers become clear.
Spiritual practice: Close your eyes and ask your soul a question. What is God saying to you through your soul? How does the soul use qualities of your personality?
Self-inquiry: What blocks your being in stillness?
Prayer:
Dear God, grant that I listen to my soul. I am not always alert to what my mind, heart, or body feels, but in contact with my soul, I hear them loud and clear. I ask that your spirit keeps me connected to my soul. Amen.
