Easter Sunday — April 5, 2026

The stone has been rolled away, not only from a tomb long ago, but from the hidden places within us where light has been waiting to shine. The curtain has been ripped down, not only from the temple but in our hearts.

Today we celebrate freedom… freedom from darkness, from meaninglessness, from unsettling despair that can settle over the human heart. We celebrate the unearned gift of a direct relationship with the Divine. We celebrate new life… life awakened in a power greater than ourselves.

This Divine life, embodied in Christ, comes to us through a mystery both beautiful and profound: the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Without the cross, there would be no empty tomb. Without surrender, no resurrection. And yet, through it all, love prevails.

New life. Resurrection. Rebirth. These are familiar words on Easter morning. We may each define them differently, but at the heart of every meaning is this: the triumph of life over death, love over darkness, awakening over unconsciousness, the soul over the small confines of the ego.

But what does this mean for us here, today?

At the moment of Jesus’s death, something extraordinary occurred:

“And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.” (Matthew 27:51)

This was no ordinary event. The curtain in the temple separated the Holy of Holies, the sacred dwelling place of God, from the rest of the world. Only the high priest could enter there, and only once a year. It was a symbol of distance, of separation between humanity and the Divine.

And in a single moment, that curtain was completely torn, from top to bottom, not by human hands, but by an act of God.

With that tearing, came an ending, and a new beginning followed. The old way of distance, sacrifice, and mediation by the priestly class gave way to something entirely new: direct access. The way to God was no longer hidden. The Holy of Holies was opened to all.

And this is where Easter meets us personally.

That torn curtain mirrors another curtain that exists within each of us. The veil of the ego. The layers of fear, self-centeredness, and illusion that separate us from the truth of who we are. Each time we become aware of these layers, each time we gently take them down, another veil is lifted.

And beneath it, we become conscious of something sacred:

Our true nature.

Our innocence.

Our soul.

So today is not only a remembrance… it is an invitation.

The curtain is torn.

The veils are lifting.

The stone has been rolled away.

The way is made….

Today, we are given a way to a new life because nothing stands between the Divine and us. The path is open. The presence is near. And love, once again, has the greatest power. “Ask and you shall receive,” said Jesus.

Today, may you have the Happiest of Easters.
