Soul Power Part 4

Many of us describe the soul as an invisible being whom we hope returns to heaven when we die. However, if such a nebulous description is the only thing we have to go on with about our souls, we cannot say that we have complete knowledge of our souls.

Fortunately, life teaches us that we are more than our bodies, feelings, and mental concepts. By living through births, deaths, shock points, epiphanies, and altered states of consciousness, we experience capabilities we didn't know we had. But somehow, these qualities are familiar to us and, when developed, they express the divine being within us.

How do we know the divine within? First of all, the soul is not separate from our beautiful personalities. On the contrary, it enhances and brings our personality to a much fuller expression. Personality traits such as the way we laugh, play with our hair, choose our foods, interests, activities, and clothes, are precious aspects of ourselves. When we reconnect to our soul, its qualities enliven our personality characteristics. The soul even transforms them to express more fully the specific aspect of God who we are. So, in a way, when we are in our soul, our personality helps us express our soul.

In Enneagram studies, we learn the aspect of God embodied by our soul comes from one of the nine energies. When we know the specific energy of our soul, we know more about our life's purpose. Therefore, understanding our divine purpose is not only our life’s compass but a tremendous influence on our outward personality.

To learn your spiritual purpose and the aspect of God your soul most expresses, go from your ego type against the arrow pointing to it. At the arrow’s end is your soul type. Look at the nine soul types on the Enneagram of Soul. Which one do you most identify with?

Point One: Sacred Righteousness

Point Two: Sacred Compassionate Benevolence

Point Three: Sacred Action

Point Four: Sacred Creativity

Point Five: Sacred Wisdom

Point Six: Sacred Kinship

Point Seven: Sacred Joy

Point Eight: Sacred Power

Point Nine: Sacred Loving Peace

The beauty of reconnecting to our soul’s energy is that our personality is fueled by that energy. And even more than that, when connected to our soul’s energy, we express the aspect of God we were designed to express.

Spiritual practice: As you look at your life, do you notice any difference in your personality when you were in your soulality?

Self-inquiry: What is the energy of your soul and can you feel it?

Dear God,

Reconnect me with the aspect of you that I know I was created to express. When I have been in that energy, it's a feeling beyond words. I feel aligned, purposed, compassionate, and present. I am so grateful. Amen.
