Consciousness in the Face of Unconsciousness Part 4
Consciousness opens us to the vast territory of our inner landscape. We realize we are much more than our bodies, thoughts, appearance, and feelings.
Consciousness makes us sensitive to our emotions and the emotions of others. It also increases our empathy and compassion because we imagine ourselves in another’s shoes.
In consciousness, we respect the power of the mind and are sensitive to the subject matter it entertains. The conscious mind strives for awareness of the strength of belief, truth, intention, will, curiosity, our aims, and their alignment with our purpose. The conscious mind processes all mental activity in light of reality, the truth, and the welfare of self and others.
The conscious mind realizes that answers and messages are found in nature and our bodies. It strives to embody beliefs, truths, intentions, and will. The body works in harmony with our emotions and mind.
In striving for consciousness, we intend to harmonize all three centers of intelligence by reprogramming our reactions into the realm of conscious behavior and thinking. Rewiring our behavior and thoughts transforms our behavior, helping us apply consciousness to all aspects of our lives. The conscious mind knows that application cannot be in a vacuum but takes spiritual practices, teachers, guides, trusted confidants, and a mindful community.
Spiritual practice: What is one thing you are conscious of that you were unaware of a few years ago? How do you find yourself applying that conscious awareness to your life? Meditate on your answers. How did your previous thoughts and behavior transform as a result of your conscious awareness?
Self-inquiry: How are your aims in harmony with your conscious self?
Dear God,
Please help us discover harmony within our souls. Amen
