Prosperity Part 7
Three years ago at this time, I came across a prayer for prosperity in The Daily Word, a devotional of daily prayers published by Unity. I was impressed by how it expresses true prosperity, regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves. Let me share that prayer with you today.
“I realize I abound in prosperity when I think of the love of my family and friends, the comfort of my home, and the wealth of my experiences over the years. With every breath I enjoy the prosperity of physical life and health. With every thought and creative notion, I enjoy the prosperity of mind. I feel the prosperity of my emotional life in my feelings and my heart’s wisdom. I am prospered even in difficult moments. If I face challenges or uncertainty, I know guidance is always as close to me as my next prayer. I feel prosperous seeing a sunrise or sunset, and my soul is filled to overflowing. I am grateful for each demonstration of prosperity.” Amen
This prayer affirms prosperity in all three intelligence centers: the body, mind, and heart. It says prosperity is everywhere— in our friends, family, home, and the natural world. When we think that our most precious things are free, we realize that prosperity does not have to be defined by fame, riches, or power. Truly, our most prosperous people are those who freely give and receive love.
Prayers like this one in Unity’s Daily Word fulfill a tremendous purpose; they remind us of something we so often forget— our prosperity. So often we contend with constant ego messages that say we are not enough, and that we do not have enough. The ego frequently tells us that “if only we had such and such” we would be happy. Our ego, when unhealthy, dwells on every perceived deficiency and lack. It can distract us from the truth, which is that we all have access to tremendous prosperity. Our souls, who are tethered to the divine, are very much in touch with all that is given us.
Spiritual practice: Pray the Unity prayer from your heart and see what resonates most. Now meditate on the Bible verse that goes along with the prayer: “And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8.
Self-inquiry: Why do you think prosperity includes passing it along?
