The Little Things Part 5

She was only 17 and every day saw thousands of heavy body bags unloaded from planes. She asked, “Why?” But no answer was ever given…

She was the one little flower child who didn’t recoil when the bayoneted soldiers silenced the demonstration. Instead of retreating, and

Armed with a little flower, she looked power in the eye — and into their souls.

And behind every bayonet she saw another soul child in disguise who also once held flowers in their hands and awed at the beauty, the mystery of it all…

She held the flower at the end of their sharp points, and they remembered for an instant how the light shone on the flower in their little fingers not that long ago

but they quickly forgot — again.

Spiritual practice: What is your answer to her question “Why?’

Self-inquiry: How could it be possible that a little flower has so much power?

Dear God,

Help me remember every day that those I call enemies are soul children in disguise. Amen
